SV Rod & Gun Club meetings are the 3rd Saturday of each month.
The women’s only Shooting Stars Program was developed several years ago and has just recently been revised to include a new Program of Instruction. The intent of the course is to teach the safe handling of firearms. As a part of the program women will fire various range owned Pistols and Revolvers on the range under the oversight of a coach. This course includes classroom instruction and time on the range shooting. Please expect about one hour of classroom Instruction and then one hour of range time.
Once you have completed the course you will be registered on the range as a Shooting Stars graduate which will allow you to return to the range on the second Saturday of each month and fire the range owned firearms or you may bring your own pistol(s) and/or revolver(s) to shoot.
This safety course is provided at no cost to the attendees however you must be a woman of at least 21 years of age or older to register and attend.
No one may accompany you to the course unless they are registered to attend. No family members or friends are allowed in the classroom or on the range unless they meet the requirements and are registered to attend the course.
Recommended Items for the training course:
a. Eye protection (Required). We have safety glasses available for use.
b. Hearing protection (Required). We have hearing protection available or use.
c. Comfortable closed toe shoes.
d. Long pants.
e. Jackets or rain gear depending upon the time of year.
f. Crew neck type of shirt/top.
g. Insect lotion / spray.
h. Sun lotion / protection.
i. Please bring your own water and any snacks that you may want – No drinks or food are available at the range.
Please DONOT bring any weapons to the classroom, please leave them secured in your vehicle.
The grounds on the range are rough and are covered in gravel, some areas are not level.
There are two UNISEX restrooms at the range.
The range does not have any power, but cellphone coverage is pretty good.
The access rode off of Rt 90 is dirt and gravel with a speed limit of 15 MPH. There are potholes, speed bumps and two normally dry washes that you must drive over to get to the range. We expect Game and Fish to grade the access road within the next month which will smooth it out a bit. Take it slow and watch for cattle and other critters on the roadway. Follow the range signs and keep going until you pass through a Red Gate and then a Yellow Gate and keep going till you see the Shooting Stars Sign directing you to parking and classroom. Range is located off of RT 90 at: 3300 S. Sharpshooters Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
We are very excited about this new (revised) course and would welcome any/all comments, thoughts or suggestions that you may have to make it better. Please feel free to Email me at: HS45Auto@gmail.com.
