Our volunteers are the heart of our range. To become a Range Safety Officer (RSO) please get in touch with the RSO on duty. They can help you with meeting the requirements.
As many of our regulars know, we are an all-volunteer staff. Because of this, we sometimes run into staffing shortages resulting in range closures.
One of the best ways to combat range closures, is to volunteer. We would love to welcome more talent and experience to our family of range volunteers. From maintenance to Range Safety Officers. Our volunteers keep the range running.
The easiest way to find out information on how to volunteer is to ask the Range Safety Officer on duty. There are volunteer forms for Range Safety Officers on our shelves, and the RSO is familiar with the process since they went through it themselves. Additionally, the section below details how to volunteer for maintenance staff.
Thank you, when everyone pitches in, we make our range a better place.
We're a staff of volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering, please speak with the RSO on duty. Check this section often for range updates and tips.
SVSR Maintenance Crew (M-crew)
The Sierra Vista Shooting Range M-crew is made up of dedicated volunteers who maintain the physical infrastructure of the 622-acre facility.
Some of our maintenance tasks include: impact berm maintenance, target frame construction, brush & weed landscape maintenance, road repair, sign maintenance, and public range clean-up.
The entire facility is closed every Thursday therefore Thursday is our dedicated maintenance day.
If interested in helping to support this Arizona Department of Game & Fish regional shooting range come out to the range at 0900 on Thursday and lend a hand!
